Candles
In the Armenian Apostolic Church we burn candles as a fitting symbol of Christ’s radiance and of God who is the source of all grace and enlightenment. So, for a number of years, Soorp Khatch has allowed our members to donate a box of candles in memory of a loved one, which parishioners light prior to entering the church sanctuary. You too can purchase a box of candles to honor the memory of a loved one on the following page.
Altar Flowers
In the tradition of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Soorp Khatch places flowers on the altar to honor the word of God. Most of these flowers are donated to the church by our parishioners in memory of a loved one. If you would like to remember a loved one by donating flowers for our altar please let us know.

Every year our community works hard to honor the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in ways that only we can. Our efforts to organize candle light vigils at the White House, protests at the Turkish Embassy, Capitol Hill receptions with Members of Congress, and commemoration ceremonies at the Armenian Embassy are just some of the activities unique to our local Washington, DC community and absolutely essential to raising public awareness and political support for our shared goal of both justice and peace.
Relief Fund
Thanks to the support of one of our parishioners, Soorp Khatch has a fund earmarked to help our own parishioners in need. These funds are distributed at the discretion of our Der Hayr, to help protect the anonymity of its recipients.
